Abandoned shopping carts have become a common sight in Lawton at many locations, including alleys. To reduce the number of abandoned shopping carts in town, the City Council authorized a “No-Cart November” event. Shopping carts will be picked up, at no cost to residents, on normal bulk waste pick-up weeks except for Thanksgiving week. Cart pick-up may extend into the first week of December. Commercial businesses will be allowed to reclaim carts, at no cost, at the Public Works office, 2202 SW Third Street, during normal business hours through December and January. After Jan. 31 the carts will be considered subject to disposal.
