From staff reports LAWTON – A Veterans Day celebration honoring the service and sacrifices of all active duty and former members of the armed forces will be held starting at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 11 on the west side of City Hall.
The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Stan Booker, City Manager John Ratliff, and Col. Derek Baird, Fort Sill Garrison Commander. Together they will pay tribute to military veterans, recognizing their bravery, commitment, and dedication to the United States.
After the event, all attendees are invited to a complimentary breakfast buffet in the Banquet Room of City Hall. Hilton Garden Inn is donating breakfast, which will be served while supplies last.
“We've proudly hosted this event for several years, focusing on honoring our City of Lawton employees who are veterans,” city spokesperson Caitlin Gatlin said. “This year we’re opening it up to the entire community, creating a shared opportunity for appreciation and camaraderie.”
The City of Lawton encourages all veterans to attend “as we honor their invaluable contributions to our community and our nation,” Gatlin said.
