Approximately 380 Public Service Co. of Oklahoma employees and contractors returned home after 11 days spent in Florida helping restore electricity service in the wake of Hurricane Milton. They departed from the Sooner State one day after approximately 85 PSO workers returned to Oklahoma from helping restore power to 282,000 Hurricane Helene victims in Virginia, Tennessee and West Virginia. According to Tampa Electric, 6,000 utility workers from myriad electricity providers in the U.S. flocked to the Sunshine State to help restore electricity service to hundreds of thousands of Americans. “It’s part of the job when you sign up for it; you know you’re going to have to work storms,” said lineman Cameron Highfill from PSO’s McAlester District. “It feels good helping people, turning their lights back on and hearing them cheering and constantly thanking us.”
