DUNCAN – In other business, the Duncan City Council:
• Authorized the city to spend $528,759.28 on buying and equipping seven vehicles for the Duncan Police Department.
The city will use its pot of ARPA money to pay for the vehicles, according to a Dec. 10 memo from City Manager Chris Deal. Of the total amount, $522,030.31 will come from ARPA funds that are not already earmarked for other projects.
The remaining $5,819.97 was previously allocated to the Waurika Lake Conservancy District, but the district is no longer requesting those dollars, according to the memo. The money will now be e armarked for buying the police vehicles.
The city received about $3.92 million in financial assistance under ARPA, part of a federal relief package to help local governments offset the eco nomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The money must be allocated by the end of this year and spent within the next two years.
• Approved a resolution to reallocate about $1.54 million in ARPA funds for the chlorination/dechlorination project at the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
The city had origi nally earmarked those funds for a Waurika Lake Conservancy District project, but the district is not requesting the money any longer, Deal said in a recent memo. City officials then decided to use the money for the wastewater treatment plant project instead.
• Approved a proposal to hire the contractor CPCOK LLC for grant-writing services, at the rate of $500 per month.
