From staff reports The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count showed no growth or loss in the number of rigs across the U.S. and in Oklahoma.
The Dec. 13 report indicated the nation’s count was unchanged at 589 from a week prior. The number of oil rigs remained at 482 while the number of gas rigs increased by one to 103. The number of rigs classified as “miscellaneous” declined by one to four.
The national count is down 34 from a year ago when the count was 623. The loss included 19 oil rigs and 16 gas rigs while the miscellaneous count increased by one. The offshore rig count slipped by one to 14 and is down five from a year ago.
The Sooner State’s count, according to Baker Hughes, remained at 43 rigs, one more than a year ago. The Texas count dropped by two to 283 while New Mexico added two rigs to reach 104. North Dakota was unchanged at 35. Louisiana’s count gained one to reach 31 for the total while Colorado remained at 10 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report, published by the Independent Oil & Gas Service Inc., showed Kansas gained two for a total of 33 rigs.
Ohio remained at nine rigs and Pennsylvania’s count fell one to 15. Utah stayed at 12 rigs and West Virginia was unchanged at 10. Wyoming remained at 18 rigs.
