From staff reports Candidates interested in running for office in six Kiowa County municipalities will f ile declarations of candidacy starting at 8 a.m. Feb. 3.
Declaration of candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the Kiowa County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 5, when the filing period ends, Election Board Secretary Terri Meinert said in a news release. She reminded voters that contests of candidacy must be filed no later than Feb. 7 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate is unopposed.
Declarations of candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:
• City of Hobart: Council members for Wards 3 and 4 and the atlarge position, as well as a council member to fill the unexpired term for Ward 2.
The council members for Wards 3, 4 and the at-large position will each serve a four-year term. The Ward 2 council member will serve for two years.
• Town of Lone Wolf: Three members of the board of trustees, who will each serve a four-year term.
• Town of Mountain View: Three members of the board of trustees, who will each serve a four-year term, and one member who will serve two years of an unexpired term.
• Town of Roosevelt: One member of the board of trustees, who will serve a four-year term and one member who will serve two years of an unexpired term. Whoever is elected city clerk/treasurer will serve two years of an unexpired term.
• City of Snyder: Council members for Wards 1 and 2, who will each serve a four-year term.
