LAWTON – Lawton residents whose doctors have ordered lab work for them have another option for getting those tests done.

Hospital officials celebrated the opening of CCMH’s new Memorial Express Lab, 2720 W. Gore Blvd., on Feb. 14 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new facility will allow people to get their lab work done quickly without having to visit the o utpatient lab on the hospital’s main campus, said lab director Jamie Kendall.

“It means that all the l aboratory orders that your doctors – providers – put in, you can come and draw them here, with the exception of pre-op patients and OB patients,” she said, using the abbreviation for obstetrics patients. “We still want those to go over to the main campus.”

Kendall said the outpatient lab on campus typically serves between 150 and 200 patients each day, and the new facility gives those patients a convenient location for their lab work.

“We’re just adding extra locations for them to have different places to have their labs drawn,” she said. “We’re excited to offer this opportunity for our community.”

The hospital converted the office space at 2720 W. Gore Blvd., across the street from CCMH’s main campus, to house the new lab. The project cost about $15,000 and was funded out of the hospital’s budget for capital improvements.
