The splash pad in Chickasha’s Shannon Springs Park was refurbished with a $60,000 grant received last year from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust. The town’s two splash pads were constructed in 2007, Parks and Recreation Director Spencer Winzenried said. Both splash pads – in Shannon Springs and Washita parks – are open and operate for 12 hours a day, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We’re designing a new sign for Lake Chickasha because this just doesn’t get it,” Mayor Zach Grayson deadpanned during a meeting of the city’s Parks and Recreation Board last week. The replacement for this rudimentary sign will be financed with donations, he said. Lake Chickasha is northwest of Verden in Caddo County, about a 20-minute drive from Chickasha
