USAO executive hired by Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education

Nick Hathaway, an executive at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for the last 18 months, joined the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education on July 21 as Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance.

Hathaway became USAO’s chief financial officer and vice president for business and finance in February 2024.

“He was a terrific asset to our team and will be greatly missed,” Dr.

Kayla Hale, the school president, told Southwest Ledger.

“I will miss my friends and colleagues at USAO and within the Chickasha community,” Hathaway wrote. “A special thank you to Kayla Strain Hale for your exceptional leadership and support at USAO.

The university is clearly on an upward trajectory thanks to your leadership and vision!”

His experiences at both USAO and The University of Oklahoma “have provided valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by institutions of all sizes across our state,” he posted on LinkedIn.

Hathaway served as executive vice president at OU from March 1996 to July 2018, and was the press secretary for then-U.S.

Senator David Boren of Oklahoma in 1993-94.

Hathaway also was the founder and chief executive officer of Brio Data Group in 2018.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political economy and political science from Tulane University, a Master’s of Business Administration from OU, and a certificate in disruptive innovation, business strategy, from Harvard University.
