LAWTON – Six Comanche County Detention Center employees were recently honored for their work during a critical incident at the jail.

The Comanche County Facilities Authority recognized Zoshsha Hamilton, Jennifer Diaz, Tynesia Mabon, Thomas LeBlanc, Gregory Mucker and Michelle Barlow during the authority’s July 28 meeting. The authority, which oversees the jail, is made up of the three county commissioners.

The July 16 incident occurred when a CCDC inmate attempted to take his own life, said Jail Administrator David Weber. The six staffers intervened and saved the inmate’s life.

“During this incident, six employees went above and beyond what they are normally asked to do on a daily basis,” Weber said. “I just want to take the time to recognize them with some awards.”

Weber handed lifesaving awards to each of the six employees.
