MEDICINE PARK – Medicine Park’s upcoming election to fill two vacant slots on the Medicine Park Board of Trustees has been called off, because only two people have filed for those positions.
Candidates Sandra Butler and B.D. Durant filed their declarations of candidacy with the Comanche County Election Board during the recent filing period, which ran from Oct. 6-8. They were the only two candidates to file.
The five-member Board of Trustees currently consists of Trustee Rich Amadon, Mayor John Branch and Trustee Tracy Owen. Medicine Park had scheduled a s pecial election for Nov. 18 to f ill the o pen seats on the board, but an election will not be necessa ry now.
The date when Butler and Durant will be sw orn into off ice has not been set y et, said Medicine Park Town Clerk KaLee McMahan. The two new trustees will e ach serve four-year terms.
