From staff reports HOLLIS – Right now, things are quiet in Hollis.
But only until all the f iber- optic internet access in finished.
Located in far southwestern Oklahoma – roughly three miles from the Texas border –Hollis and its rural area are going fiber optic.
The installation has been going on for more than a year.
“They have been installing fiber optic down here,” said City Clerk Patsy Lopez. “It has made dramatic a $396 million federal grant which is administered by the Federal Communication Commission.
Along with the f iber optics, both Hollis City Council and Hollis Public Works Authority held brief meetings to approve Christmas bonuses for both city and public works employees.
Four members of the five-member council and the PWA attended the meetings. In addition, the PWA unanimously approved a $500 monthly stipend for the city manager.
The boards also released their list of monthly meetings for 2026. The first meetings of the new year are set for Jan. 5.
