The looming retirement of Goebel Music as Chickasha’s police chief will be celebrated with a party July 9 at Drover Hills Golf Course’s country club, his wife, Joanna, announced. The come-andgo event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., and hot dogs will be provided.

Music has been with the CPD for 28 years. He began as a reserve officer before becoming a fulltime officer in May 1998, and was appointed Chief of Police on June 5, 2023.

Comanche County Commissioner Josh Powers said that because of a prior commitment he will be unable to attend.

“However, I will send a couple of my guys who work with Chief Music regularly,” he wrote. “I will send them with a gift from us for being such a great customer and friend to all of us here,” said Powers, owner of Valor Defense Depot in Lawton.

“I hate to hear he is leaving but wish him nothing but the best.

His retirement is welldeserved.”
