Frederick sets limit on advertising spending

FREDERICK – The Frederick City Council set a limit July 28 on how much the city could spend on advertising per fiscal year.

The council voted unanimously to cap the city’s overall spending for nonprofit advertising at $5,000 annually, City Manager Kyle Davis said in a July 31 text message. He said the city did not previously have a limit on that type of spending.

The council decided it would rather spend money on other projects, Davis said.

“Council did not want to continue to use revenue that the citizens pay for this type of advertising, and we can use that for more vital projects for the citizens of Frederick,” he said.
