LAWTON – An elevator maintenance agreement was approved Monday by the Comanche County Board of Commissioners, and they accepted payment by a developer for paving of another subdivision near Elgin.
A 12-month agreement with American Elevator Solutions “to provide full maintenance service for both elevators” in the county courthouse was approved Monday by the commissioners. The cost will be $855 per month.
A week earlier the commissioners approved the County Health Department’s lease agreement with Standley Systems of Chickasha, at a cost of $842 per month.
A $26,011 donation to District 1 from Michelle McDonald Speas to pay for chip-andseal paving on one-quarter mile off Trail Road between Miller and Welch roads, in Seaside Addition near Elgin, was approved Monday by the county commissioners. One week earlier, Franklin Homes LLC donated $51,955 to District 1 for chip-and-seal paving in Stoneridge Addition near Elgin.
County employees will do the work and the developers will pay for the materials and labor, Commissioner Ryan John told Southwest Ledger.
Also Monday the commissioners authorized a $426,196 purchase order from the 2007 Sales Tax Jail Fund to the Comanche County Facilities Authority, which operates the county jail, “for reimbursement of expenditures” incurred this month.
In a related matter, Comanche County Detention Center Administrator David Weber informed the commissioners that 221 inmates were housed in the jail last Friday, and the head count at the end of last week was 310.
That number increased to 333 on Monday, of whom 233 were confined in the facility and 100 others were housed off-site: 91 in the Washita County jail, eight in the Grady County Detention Center, and one in Greer County.
