OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Human Services has completed a multi-county warrant roundup following an extensive investigation into alleged Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program fraud. Led by the OKDHS Office of Inspector General, the monthslong operation targeted a dozen individuals accused of exploiting food assistance intended for low-income families. On Thursday, Aug. 13, law enforcement swept across five counties to execute arrests. Two additional individuals identified early in the investigation have already been sentenced and ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution. Combined, the suspects stand accused of defrauding state safety-net programs of more than $150,000.

“SNAP is an essential resource for Oklahomans working hard to put food on the table for their families, and we have a responsibility to protect it,” said OKDHS Director Jeffrey Cartmell. “The OKDHS OIG will pursue any and all allegations of fraud relentlessly. Anyone who attempts to commit fraud against these critical programs will be held fully accountable.” OKDHS OIG investigators continuously monitor agency records, financial disclosures, and public tips, collaborating closely with local and federal law enforcement partners to swiftly bring criminal or administrative action against deliberate fraud.

“Protecting the integrity of our programs is a core responsibility of our agency,” said OKDHS Inspector General Michael Adams. “Fraud is a crime, and we have no tolerance for it. Our investigators are well trained to identify wrongdoing and will bring those responsible to justice.” OKDHS is aggressively fighting program fraud and taking active measures to protect vital state assistance. Members of the public are crucial partners in this effort and are urged to report any suspected fraudulent activity directly to the OIG Hotline at (800) 784-5887 or via email at OIGfraud2@okdhs.org.
