OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Senate will conduct 41 interim studies, covering such issues as an examination of the state’s turnpike authority, childcare regulation and possible changes in the state’s teacher certification and licensing system.
Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat (R-Oklahoma City) said a total of 60 requests were received by his office. He said the studies will be assigned to standing committees with jurisdiction over those policy areas.
“There are so many important issues that require more in-depth consideration and research than we have time for during the regular session, and interim studies provide that opportunity,” Treat said in a media statement. “There are going to be some great studies conducted in the coming months, and I commend members for their dedication and willingness to take the time to further analyze these topics by working with the public, our state agencies and experts in the field.”
All studies must have their work complete by Nov. 4.
