From staff reports MIDWEST CITY – Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Bomber Directorate Small Business Summit to be held Feb. 20-21 at Rose State College.
The two-day summit is hosted by the AFLCMC Bomber Directorate with support from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce ACES, the Oklahoma Defense Industry Association and Rose State College.
Included in the agenda on Friday, Feb. 20, will be a discussion on the importance of small business partners, explanation of the qualified vendor process and potential opportunities for partnership. Registration and networking begins at 7:30 a.m. Prior to Pinnell speaking from 11:30 a.m. until noon, a discussion will also be held on supply data rights and intellectual property.
Afternoon workshops will continue until 4 p.m. and then a two-hour social gathering will be hosted by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce ACES division. The second day of the business summit, Feb. 21, also begins at 7:30 a.m. with workshops throughout the day. From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. a discussion will be held on a variety of topics outlining other opportunities for small businesses.
The Bombers Directorate is part of the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center and has units at Oklahoma’s Tinker Air Force Base and Ohio’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The Directorate directs the modernization and sustainment of the Air Force’s 150-plus aircraft bomber fleet (B-1, B-2 and B-52) and organizes, trains and equips the B-21 program in support of Air Force Global Strike Command and the United States Air Force. The 1,000 member Directorate executes $16 billion and delivers combat capability to USAF core functions.
A goal of the business summit is to revitalize an underutilized sector of the industrial base and to help resolve supply issues through small business involvement. It will be held in the Jeanie Webb Student Union, FNB Community Ballroom, 1910 Hudiburg Drive in Midwest City.
