Three of the state’s top 25 issuers of the electronic PikePass in July are located in Comanche County.
The H.E. Bailey Turnpike was opened with great fanfare on March 1, 1964, and was known originally as the “Southwestern Turnpike.” Lawton leaders were instrumental in bringing the toll road to the southern part of the state.
Several vintage cars from Stan Oldham’s collection were showcased along C Avenue in Lawton during the Sept. 5 Ware on C Block Party. Oldham, standing left, admitted to taking three hours to get the cars ready for the event.
The new $360 million Sofidel tissue manufacturing facility located at Public Service Company of Oklahoma’s (PSO) 2,500- acre Inola River Rail Industrial Park is bringing new attention to the area after it was named a Project of the Year by the Oklahoma Economic Development Council (OEDC).
