An early look at whether Oklahoma could expand, shrink voting access

Earlier this year, Oklahoma became one of the few Republican-led states to expand, rather than restrict voting access.   In a move that will cost the state $40,000 per election, lawmakers passed House Bill 2663 with bipartisan support as they added an extra early-voting day for general elections.

LAWTON — Lawton Mayor Stan Booker won a three-way race for mayor Tuesday night, defeating challengers Sherene Williams and Palmer Moore Jr. Booker cruised to victory with 2,660 votes, or 63.08% of the total, according to unofficial election results. Williams came in second with 1,320 votes, or 31.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma voters will return to the polls Thursday for early voting in the November presidential election. Though election day, is officially Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Oklahoma early voting begins Thursday, Oct. 29 and continues through Saturday, Oct. 31. Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.

When I was 14, I wanted to vote. There was a hotly contested school board race in my hometown and, because I was in junior high and because what the school board did had a direct effect on me, I decided that I needed to vote. My parents, however, thought otherwise.
