89th Airlift Wing visits Altus AFB

The 89th Airlift Wing maintains 24/7 alert, operating the Executive Airlift Training Center and Government Network Operation Center.

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE - Pilots and flight attendants from the 89th Airlift Wing, from Joint Base Andrews, made a special visit to Altus Air Force Base, Mobility’s Hometown, on Nov. 7 to educate, recruit and showcase their mission to Mobility Airmen of the Mighty 97th.

The 89th AW’s mission is to provide global Special Air Mission airlift, logistics, aerial port and communications for the President, Vice President, cabinet members, combatant commanders, and other senior military leaders

tasked by the White House, Air Force Chief of Staff and Air Mobility Command.

U.S. Air Force Col. D.W. Schmidt, the 89th Operations Group commander, and U.S. Air Force Maj. Michael Giannone, the 89th OG director of personnel and pilot hiring, spoke about career opportunities and the overall mission of the 89th AW.

Additionally, seven U.S. Air Force Flight Attendants and a C-37B Gulfstream flew to Altus AFB to further educate Airmen on the various Air Force missions worldwide.
