New addition means more homes for Altus

ALTUS –  A new residential addition that will provide up to 112 multi-family homes received final approval by the Altus City Council Tuesday, Aug. 3. Bids on the development’s streets, water and sewer systems will be taken in 30-45 days, Altus City Manager Gary Jones said.

Stitt repeats comments on mask mandates

ALTUS - Gov. Kevin Stitt insisted Friday his refusal to issue a mask mandate would not have saved lives.

Altus AFB breaks ground on its new Fire Rescue Center

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE – Officials broke ground Jan. 26 on a new construction project at Altus Air Force Base. The ceremony marked the beginning of an effort to build a new, $21 million Fire Rescue Center, which will double the size of the existing center, the Air Force said in a news release.

97th AMW pushes back training event

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE – The 97th Air Mobility Wing large formation training event scheduled for April 10 has been postponed.
Airmen receive the opportunity to observe the inside the cockpit of a C-37B Gulfstream assigned to the 89th Airlift Squadron during a squadron visit on Nov. 7 at Altus Air Force Base. The 89th Airlift Wing maintains 24/7 alert, operating the Executive Airlift Training Center and Government Network Operation Center.

U.S. Air Force working dog retires to Hawaii

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE - After nine years of service, explosive detection Military Working Dog, Yyoda/P195, honorably retired from the military, Sept. 11, 2019, at Altus Air Force Base, Yyoda began his training as a MWD in San Antonio, Texas, in 2010.
