Agri Spray Drones improve spraying efficiency

From staff reports During the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, in August, Madelynn Gastler, a drone application specialist with the Missouri-based Agri Spray Drones, spoke on the effectiveness of drones for spraying crops and emphasized the company’s commitment to the producer.

As a ground rig alternative, Agri Spray Drones promotes the use of crop-spraying drones in rural America to save farmers time, promising cost savings and easy operation. They are designed to function without internet connectivity, relying on pre-downloaded maps.

“It is significantly cheaper than a ground rig,” Gastler said. “We aren’t here to replace ground rigs; we are here to do the little pieces that they can’t. Drones pay for themselves quickly by what they save producers.”

Their dealer system offers demos and assistance to farmers nationwide, and their dealers are trained to answer questions and provide demos in their areas.

“We are making sure that we are there to provide the training, support, and repair services, to producers using our drones,” Gastler said. “We are there to help them through the registration process, through any FAA regulations, and we also have a great tech program for drone maintenance, repair, and to provide instruction on repairing your drone. We can overnight parts to producers. We are trying to make it as easy as possible when you are learning a technology that is so new.”

The technology is particularly beneficial for smaller operations, farmers running trials, and younger farmers looking to innovate and stay on family farms. “We are here to empower rural America with new opportunities,” she concluded.
