CHICKASHA – City staff will solicit bids for rehabilitation of the municipal swimming pool and one of the city’s two splash pads, and for improvements to the audio/visual equipment in the City Council chambers at City Hall.

Repairs to the pool in Shannon Springs Park are to include replacing and/or repairing various pool elements, including underground water supply pipelines, a sand filter, an acid pump, electric panels and wiring, painting, and safety grates, Parks and Recreation Director Spencer Winzenried said.

Repairs to the splash pad in Shannon Springs Park are to include replacing and/or repairing several elements, including water control valves, system controls, some broken underground water lines, spray features, and surface coating.

That project will be financed in part with a $60,000 grant the city received from the state’s Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust, Winzenried said. The city also will be able to apply for another $60,000 TSET grant to offset the cost even further, he said.

The public pool was constructed approximately 40 years ago and the Shannon Springs Park splash pad was built in 2007, Winzenried said. Chickasha’s other splash pad is inWashita Valley Park.

City staff also was authorized to advertise for bids on improvements to the audio/visual system in the City Council chambers on the second floor at City Hall.

That project is to include installation of acoustic mitigation, four speakers and 15 microphones, one sound bar, two ADA-compliant assistive listening devices, a sound system panel, two monitors, six cameras, and eight hours of training on the new equipment.

Bids on all three projects are slated to be opened at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in City Hall.
