Big Lots temporarily hikes worker pay

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the nation, the retail giant Big Lots is temporarily hiking employee salaries by $2 per hour and providing workers with other incentives.

In addition to the pay hike, the company is:

• Extending bonuses for eligible store leaders

• Offering expanded store discounts for employees

• Consulting regularly with government health experts to ensure employees are informed of company store health and safety measures.

• Reserving the first hour of store openings for senior

citizens and those most vulnerable to the virus.

• Providing curbside pickup for customers.

• Laying colored tape to denote the required six-foot spacing requirements between customers as suggested by the CDC and World Health Organization.

• Continuously wiping down store equipment in check out lines and throughout the store.

• Offering disinfectant wipes in the shopping cart area.

• Pausing the use of reusable bags.

• Temporarily suspending in-store product returns and exchange from March 26 until April 16.
