CHICAGO – Boeing is providing a $60,000 grant to support science, technology, math and engineering programs for Oklahoma students.

The grant will fund a summer internship program for high school juniors and seniors, which will give Native American students a chance to work with faculty and undergraduate engineering students at Oklahoma State University’s Unmanned Systems Research Institute.

As part of a $1.5 million investment package, the grant is designed to support Native American communities across the United States, in observance of National Native American Heritage Month in November, Boeing announced Friday.

Other elements of the package include:

A $125,000 grant to the Partnership with Native Americans, which will provide training and equipment to Native American tribes so they can better prepare for and respond to natural disasters.

A $50,000 grant to the American Indian Space and Engineering Society to support the Together Towards Tomorrow Fund. The fund provides one-time scholarships of $500 apiece to 1,000 Indigenous students enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

An additional $84,000 will fund future projects for Native American and Indigenous communities. Details of those projects will be announced at a later date.

The new grants build on Boeing’s previously announced multi-year commitment to fight racism and promote racial equity and justice, the company said.
