The Chickasha Chamber of Commerce has challenged Chambers of Commerce throughout Oklahoma to join the Flag Day Chamber Challenge by gathering on their community’s Main Street on June 14 for a group photo in celebration of Flag Day and upcoming America 250 commemorations.

The Chickasha Chamber believes this statewide effort will showcase Oklahoma’s patriotism and unity as communities prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, Chamber President Jim Cowan said.

“All across Oklahoma, our Main Streets tell the story of our communities and our country,” he said. “By coming together on Flag Day, we can visibly demonstrate our shared pride in the American flag and in the freedoms it represents.”

Chambers participating in the Flag Day Chamber Challenge are encouraged to:

•Invite citizens to gather on their Main Street this Sunday.

•Display the American flag and dress in red, white, and blue, the colors of Old Glory.

•Take a group photo capturing their community’s show of patriotism.

•Share the photo on social media using the hashtag #ChamberChallenge.

Chickasha citizens are invited to join the celebration Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. in front of the Chickasha Community Theater on historic Main Street. Community activities will include:

•General Tommy Franks Traveling Museum. The mobile museum will be on-site and open for tours, offering a unique, interactive look at American military history and leadership.

•Free snow cones, courtesy of Express Personnel, will be available to help attendees stay cool during the celebration.

•The first 250 people to arrive will receive free movie passes to the iconic Chief Drive-In Theater, tying the America 250 milestone to a classic American pastime.

•Patriotic performance. Cast members from the Chickasha Community Theater will perform a patriotic song to kick off the group photo.

•Drone photo and flyover. A drone will capture wide-angle photos of the gathered crowd, showcasing Chickasha’s support of Flag Day and America 250. In addition, there will be a special flyover by Chickasha Wings pilot Mitch Williams, adding a dramatic moment to the event.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the activities and secure one of the free movie passes. Special thanks to the John Holt Auto Group for being the presenting sponsor of Chickasha’s Festival of Freedom!

“Flag Day is about honoring the enduring symbol of our nation,” Cowan said. “We hope every Chamber in Oklahoma will accept this challenge and show the strength, pride, and spirit of our communities as we look ahead to America’s 250th birthday.”
