- The Chickasha City Council voted May 18 to waive the competitive bidding requirement and authorize city staff to solicit bids for emergency repairs to the 14th and Missouri intersection, which was damaged during a heavy rainstorm May 13. Public Works Director Jim Crosby said he hopes the work can start in about 30 days, and estimated the job will take 60 to 90 days to complete at a cost of perhaps $200,000 to $250,000. - Stormwater drains at the intersection of 14th and Missouri in Chickasha were overloaded during a heavy rainstorm May 13, causing the pavement to buckle, Public Works Director Jim Crosby said. The manhole cover didn’t pop up to release excess water. Consequently, floodwater flowed under the asphalt street, “lifted the pavement up and dropped it back down,” City Manager Keith Johnson said.
