City reminds residents of bulk collection guidelines

LAWTON – The City of Lawton is reminding residents about which items qualify for pick-up through the Solid Waste Collection Division’s bulk collection service.

The division recently noticed an increase in incorrect set-out times and improper items being placed on the curb, which leads to delays in collection schedules and increased trash along roads, the city said in a news release.

As a reminder, bulk collection service is only for large, bulky items that will not fit in a poly cart. This category can include, but is not limited to, household appliances, mattresses, tree debris and lumber.

Items that do not qualify for bulk collection include, but are not limited to, household solid waste items that fit in a poly cart, bricks, concrete, tires and pool chemicals.

A complete list of items that qualify or do not qualify for bulk collection is available athttps://www.lawtonok.gov/departments/solid-waste-collection.

Residents should have their bulk items at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of their scheduled set-out and no earlier than 72 hours before collection day, according to the news release. A schedule showing when the Solid Waste Collection Division will be in your neighborhood for bulk collection service is available at https://www.lawtonok.gov/news/information-once-week-residential-trash-collection-monthly-free-bulk-collections.
