The Chickasha Municipal Authority authorized anticipated expenditures of $1.17 million for energy and telecommunication services that will be provided to city facilities during the next 12 months.

The biggest expenditures will be for energy utility services: an estimated $994,450. That would include a projected $811,200 for electric bills from Public Service Co. of Oklahoma, and $69,750 for natural gas purchases from Summit Utilities.

It also includes a projected $113,500 in payments to CK Energy. That is the electric co-op that serves City of Chickasha properties outside the city limits, such as Lake Chickasha and the gun range, said Shae Mortimer, the city’s spokesperson.

The CMA anticipates spending $182,200 in FY27 on telecommunication services. That includes $150,000 in payments to AT&T for telephone service, $24,000 to Dobson Technologies for internet service, and $8,200 to Optimum for cable TV, Ms. Mortimer said.

The CMA also agreed to pay Smith Roberts and Baldischwiler $95,000 for utility mapping and database development.

The Public Works Department will use SRB to perform a geographic information system (GIS) infrastructure mapping project.

“This will provide accurate location data and mapping of the city’s underground and above-ground utility assets, including water transmission and distribution lines, wastewater collection lines, water valves, fire hydrants, and other related utility infrastructure assets,” Public Works Director Omar Fierro informed the City Council.

Operational benefits, he said, will include improved asset management and infrastructure planning; faster response times during utility emergencies and repairs, enhanced accuracy for utility locates and construction projects, reduced risk of damage to existing infrastructure, and better long-term maintenance planning and record keeping.
