LAWTON – The candidate filing period begins April 8, Comanche County Election Board Secretary Amy Sims announced. Filing will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Candidates for county offices file with the Secretary of the County Election Board.
The statewide primary election is scheduled for June 30. Sims said Comanche County offices to be filled this year are the County Clerk, the Court Clerk, the County Sheriff, and County Commissioner District #2 (central district).
Because the County Courthouse is closed, the following procedures are in place:
• Candidates download the filing packet at www. elections.ok.gov
• Declaration of Candidacy must be notarized before being brought to the Courthouse. All offices are closed to the public and the form cannot be notarized at courthouse.
• A cashier’s check or money order for $300 should be made out to the Secretary of the Comanche County Election Board.
