LAWTON — The town of Chattanooga will receive $225,000 from Comanche County to upgrade the town’s water distribution system.
With little discussion, the Comanche County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 26 to approve a notice of award and a subrecipient award agreement between the county and Chattanooga. The town will receive a $225,000 grant to upgrade its wastewater system and replace ductile iron pipes, well controls and telemetry, which is a tool for water management.
The grant will come from Comanche County’s pot of American Rescue Plan Act money. The county received about $23 million in ARPA funds from the state of Oklahoma, whose share of federal pandemic relief dollars amounted to approximately $1.87 billion.
The American Rescue Plan Act was designed to help local units of government recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
