From staff reports Early voting begins Sept. 4 for Comanche County voters.
Voters who are unable to make it to the polls the day of the election may vote early at the Comanche County Election Board office, Election Board Secretary Amy Sims said in a news release. She added that early voting is available to all voters.
“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early,” Sims said. “Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the county election board or state election board, from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines.”
Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sept. 4 and 5 at the Comanche County Election Board, located at 315 SW Fifth St., Room 206, in Lawton. Early voting will not be available at polling places.
Some voters may need assistance to vote because they are blind or visually impaired, physically disabled or infirm, or illiterate, according to the news release. Those voters may request an assistant or vote privately and independently, using the Audio Tactile Interface device attached to the voting device.
Voters who require assistance should talk to their precinct official or contact the county election board directly for instructions.
Lawton voters in Wards 3, 4 and 5 will chose their representatives on the Lawton City Council in the Sept. 9 election. The candidates are as follows:
• Ward 3: Paul Greene, Charlie Pulliam and Kirby Brown.
• Ward 4: Tiffiney Dimery, Andrew Norris, George Gill (incumbent), David Stebleton and Ronald Ballew.
• Ward 5: Allan Hampton (incumbent) and David Burkett.
Two proposed amendments to the city charter are also on the ballot.
