LAWTON – Coma nche County has hir ed the Oklahoma Citybased architectural firm Tradesman Architectural Studios to w ork on the county’s new public health preparedness facility.
The Comanche County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 April 1 to a pprove a professional services agreement with Tradesman, which will provide a rchitectural and engineering services for the he alth preparedness facility. The county will pay Tradesman $70,000 for its work, which will be paid out of the co unty’s American Rescue Plan Act grant to the health department.
In December 2023, the commission f inalized a $1 million A RPA grant to the he alth department, which will use the f unds to construct a c linic for testing and treatment of COVID-19 and future pandemics. The new building will be located directly south of the existing he alth department.
Tradesman will serve as the a rchitect and engineer of record for the pr oject, according to the agreement. In that role, the company will perform various tasks, including:
• Creating schematic plans of site a nd building floor plans.
• Developing a de sign for the b uilding.
• Creating final construction documents for bidding, permits and construction.
• Help the county hire a constru ction manager at risk, who will oversee the project from design through completion and deliver it with a guaranteed maximum price.
• Inspect the site periodically to determine whether work is proceeding in accordance with the con tract documents.
