OKLAHOMA CITY – Local elections in Comanche Coun-ty that had been scheduled for April 7 have been postponed and reset for June 30, Amy Sims, Secretary of the County Election Board, announced Friday.

Elections in Comanche County that were rescheduled for June 30 include:

  • Bishop Public School, a proposition seeking voter approval to sell $6.8 million in bonds to pay for constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment, and acquiring and improving school sites;
  • Walters Public Schools, two propositions;
  • Snyder Public Schools, board member Office #6;
  • Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center, board memberOffice #5.

Absentee ballots issued for the April 7 election are no longer valid and should be destroyed, Ms. Sims advised.

Voters who were issued an absentee ballot for the April 7election will be issued a new ballot for the June 30 election, if they are currently signed up to receive absentee ballots for all elections in which they are eligible to vote for the 2020election year.

Voters who applied for an absentee ballot for the April 7 election only, will need to submit a new absentee ballot request for the June 30 election in order to vote in the rescheduled elections, Ms.Sims said.

Absentee ballots can be requested online using the OK Voter Portal at https://www.ok.gov/elections/OVP.html. Applications also can be downloaded athttps://www.ok.gov/elections/Voter_Info/Absentee_Voting/index.html.Although the Comanche County Courthouse is closed to the public, the County Election Board will continue to conduct business as usual by phone (580-353-1880), by mail, and by email (comanchecounty@elections.ok.gov). Business hours may be modified due to the unusual circumstances, but calls and emails will be returned in a timely manner, Ms. Sims pledged.
