LAWTON – Comanche County staff is preparing to reviewing applications from potential successors to Comanche County Detention Center Administrator William Hobbs, who retired earlier this month.
Applications for the administrator’s position were due by Feb. 26, said Commission Chairman Josh Powers. He said once the application window closed, staff would begin sorting through candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the job.
“Once those are met, we’ll then begin the background investigations, then set u p for interviews and score them with an interview panel in executive session later on,” Powers said during the commission’s Feb. 26 meeting. “This process may take several weeks, so we don’t have an exact time frame on it.”
He said the commis sioners will not rush to hire a new administrator, but they will conduct a professional search and make sure they hire the right candidate for the job. Hobbs’ retirement Hobbs announced in January that he w as retiring after spending nearly 20 years working at the jail, inc luding a stint as a gua rd. He became the jail administrator in 2021.
CCDC Capt. David Weber will serve as the interim administrator until the county hires someone to f ill the position.
