Comanche County has recorded its first two COVID-19 deaths, according to a new Oklahoma State Department of Health report and a press release from Comanche County Memorial.

The first reported death was included in an OSDH Media Advisory released early today. But hospital officials this afternoon distributed a media release stating that two people actually had died.

A male passed away on April 20 and a female passed away early today. Both were 65 or older.

The OSDH release noted that there have been 21 newly reported deaths, with five occurring in the last 24 hours and the remainder happening between April 14-19.

Hospital spokesman Nicole Jolly said in the hospital release that the facility currently has six people in the COVID Intensive Care Unit.

The Oklahoma death count is now 164 people.

There are 2,807 confirmed cases in Oklahoma, 41,537 negative tests, 44,489 total conducted tests, 346 people currently hospitalized and 588 cumulative hospitalizations over the course of the pandemic.

New deaths also have been reported around the state: Delaware County, 4; Washington County, 4; Wagoner County, 4; Tulsa County, 3; Kay County, 2; Oklahoma County, 1; Greer County, 1; Bryan County, 1.
