Crews are breaking ground outside Lawton City Hall, marking the beginning of the completion of the City Hall renovation.
The construction company CMS Willowbrook Inc. recently started work on the parking lot to provide adequate parking for customers and staff before the renovation on the building, according to a news release from City Hall. The parking lot is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, work on City Hall is slated to begin early next year. Renovations on the building will take place on the first, second and third floors. The major components include demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical and room finishes.
In addition to the parking lot and City Hall renovation, crews will construct a drive-thru for a utility payment building for customers to stay in their vehicles while paying their bill. The construction of the utility payment building will be done in a future contract, along with the City Hall building renovation.
This project is funded by the Propel Capital Improvement Plan.
