Rainfall totals averaged 0.24 of an inch across Oklahoma the week of April 5-11, with the northeast district recording the highest total at 0.82 of an inch.

Drought conditions were rated 50% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up 10 points from the previous week, according to the April 6 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 21% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, up 10 points from the previous week.

Statewide, temperatures averaged in the low 60s. Topsoil moisture conditions and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short. 

Here’s a snapshot of how crops fared for the week of April 5-11: Small grains: Winter wheat jointing reached 75%, down eight points from the previous year and one point from normal. Winter wheat headed reached 2%, unchanged from the previous year but down five points from normal. 

Canola blooming reached 24%, down four points from the previous year and 19 points from normal. 

Rye jointing reached 50%, down 17 points from the previous year and 23 points from normal. Rye headed reached 1%. 

Oats jointing reached 26%, down seven points from the previous year and nine points from normal.

Row crops: Corn planted reached 18%, up 12 points from the previous year and five points from normal. Soybeans planted reached 1%, down one point from the previous year. P4 

Pasture and livestock:

Pasture and range condition was rated at 79% fair to good. Livestock condition was rated at 91% good to fair.
