Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.52 of an inch for the week of July 26-Aug. 1, with the north-central district recording the highest total at 1 inch.

Drought conditions were rated 9% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, unchanged from the previous week, according to the July 27 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 1% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, unchanged from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the low 80s. Topsoil moisture and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how crops fared for the last week of July:

Small grains: Oats harvested reached 95%, down four points from the previous year and four points from normal.

Row crops: Cornsilk reached 84%, up one point from the previous year and two points from normal. Corn dough reached 23%, down nine points from the previous year and 11 points from normal.

Sorghum headed reached 32%, down 12 points from the previous year and 11 points from normal. Sorghum coloring reached 10%, down four points from the previous year and eight points from normal.

Soybeans emerged reached 95%, up one point from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Soybeans blooming reached 42%, down one point from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Soybeans setting pods reached 8%, down one point from the previous year and seven points from normal.

Peanuts pegging reached 56%, down four points from the previous year and eight points from normal. Cotton squaring reached 72%, down 11 points from the previous year and 13 points from normal.

Cotton setting bolls reached 23%, down 11 points from the previous year and 11 points from normal.

Hay: The second cutting of alfalfa hay reached 96%. The third cutting of alfalfa hay reached 50%, down 14 points from the previous year and eight points from normal. The second cutting of other hay reached 40%, up four points from the previous year but down five points from normal.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 78% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 83% good to fair.
