Rainfall totals averaged 1.17 inches across Oklahoma for the week of May 10-16, with the south-central district recording the highest total at 2.09 inches.

Drought conditions were rated 49% abnormally dry to exceptional drought, up six points from the previous week, according to the May 11 U.S. Drought Monitor Report. Additionally, 16% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, down one point from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the high 50s and low 60s. Topsoil moisture conditions and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how Oklahoma crops fared last week: 

Small grains: Winter wheat headed reached 91%, unchanged from the previous year but down two points from normal.

Canola blooming reached 80%. Canola coloring reached 48%, up 19 points from the previous year and nine points from normal.

Rye headed reached 92%, up six points from the previous year and eight points from normal.

Oats jointing reached 62%, down 12 points from the previous year and 14 points from normal. Oats headed reached 39%, up 21 points from the previous year.

Row crops: Corn planted reached 55%, down 18 points from the previous year and 11 points from normal. Corn emerged reached 30%, down 16 points from the previous year and 19 points from normal.

Sorghum planted reached 20%, up seven points from the previous year but down four points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 24%, down 16 points from the previous year and five points from normal.

Peanuts planted reached 30%, up 21 points from the previous year but down seven points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 23%, up 15 points from the previous year and two points from normal.

Hay: The first cutting of alfalfa hay reached 18%, up nine points from the previous year. The first cutting of other hay reached 12%, down one point from the previous year.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 82% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 90% good to fair.
