DUNCAN – The Duncan City Council has tapped Planning Design Group, a Tulsa-based landscape architecture and land planning firm, to assist city of ficials in drawing up a plan for expanding Abe Raizen Park.
The council voted 4-0 Feb. 25 to approve a professional- services agreement with PDG for the park expansion. Councilwoman Patty Wininger was absent.
The city bought a 45-acre tract of land adjacent to Abe Raizen Park in February 2022 with an eye to expanding the park, according to a Feb. 25 memo from City Manager Chris Deal.
“This agreement is for the preparation of a master plan to guide the city in development of the site and as a tool to assist in applying for grants,” Deal wrote.
The first phase of developing the master plan will include visiting the site, preparing a site plan, and analyzing vehicle and pedestrian circulation around the site, according to the agreement. The design team will meet with the city’s Park Board and the city council, as directed by city officials.
After officials review the results of the f irst phase, PDG will prepare a final master plan, which will include any requested revisions, according to the agreement. The firm will also prepare a color rendering of the master p lan and an image board with specific elements for presentation, as well as a detailed conceptual estimate for budgeting and phasing options.
The city will pay PDG $23,275 for its work on the master plan.
