DUNCAN – The Duncan Police Department introduced a new K9 team to the department after successful graduation from the Canine Unlimited Training Program on March 28, city officials said in a news release.
K9 Blu, a 2.5-year-old Belgian Malinois, is on patrol with Master Officer K. Keplinger after successfully finishing the Canine Unlimited Training program in Ochelata, where they completed all requirements of a 160-hour intensive training course.
K9 Blu, along with her handler, navigated the training for narcotics search, apprehension techniques, explosive detection and tracking, according to the news release. The first month of training focused on obedience, with the remaining time spent completing all the onsite training program's requirements. “With graduation complete,” said Deputy Chief of Police David Woods, “we are excited to officially integrate our new K9 team into the ranks of Duncan Police Department and introduce her to the community.”
