Duncan selects contractor for Fuqua Park gazebo remodel

DUNCAN – The Duncan City Council has chosen a contractor to remodel the east gazebo in Fuqua Park.

The council voted 5-0 May 14 to accept the bid from IronClad Construction, which has offered to do the project for $93,677. IronClad was the only contractor to bid on the project.

The work will include redoing the fascia and soffit around the gazebo, putting on a new roof and replacing or repairing the cupola on top, said public works director Buddy Hokit.

“We’ll put a handicapped ramp up on the stage area down, and we’ll put a railing around the raised platform around the gazebo,” he said. “And we’ll redo the lighting.”

Hokit said IronClad anticipates completing the project by June 18. Other projects The council also approved bids for three other projects, with a total estimated price tag of $16.66 million. Bids were awarded to the following contractors:

• Miller Construction for Package 2 water line replacements. Bid amount: $5.45 million.

• Landmark Structures for the El Rancho elevated storage tank project. Bid amount: $6.13 million.

• Downey Contracting for the wastewater treatment plant chlorination/ dechlorination improvements project. Bid amount: $5.07 million.
