Early voting begins March 28

From staff reports Early voting starts Thursday, March 28, for voters in Comanche County.

Voters unable to make it to the polls on Election Day have the option of voting early at their county election board.

Early voting is open to all voters, Comanche County Election Board Secretary Amy Sims said in a news release.

'You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early,” she said. “Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the county election board or state election board, from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines.”

Early voting is available from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29, at the Comanche County Courthouse, 315 SW Fifth St., Lawton. Election day is April 2.

Sims reminded voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.

Some voters may need assistance to vote because they are blind or visually disabled, physically disabled, infirm or illiterate. Those voters may request to have an assistant or vote privately and independently using the ATI device attached to the voting device.

Those who require assistance should talk to their precinct official or contact the county election board directly for instructions.

For questions, contact the Election Board at (580) 353-1880 or comanchecounty@elections.gov.

The following issues are on the ballot in Comanche County:

• Patrons of Cement Public Schools will decide the fate of the district’s $4.25 million bond issue.

If it passes, proceeds from the bond issue would finance several school improvements, according to the Cement Public Schools Info Facebook group. The bond issue will not require a tax increase.

• Voters who live in the Cache, Elgin, Fletcher, Chattanooga and Empire school districts will choose members of their school boards.
