Employers in Action Day set for March 26

From staff reports Oklahoma’s human-resources professionals will hear from lawmakers during the State Chamber of Oklahoma’s Employers in Action Day, set for March 26 at the state Ca pitol.

The event is free and includes lunch, but participants must register in advance, according to an email from the Chamber’s events director, Lindsey Sparks. Registration is available through the Chamber’s website, www.okstatechamber.com.

Participants will check in, have lunch and network between 11:30 a.m. and noon in Room 100 of the Capitol, 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd. in Oklahoma City. The Chamber’s president and CEO, Chad Warmington, will welcome participants at noon.

The program, which will run until 1:30 p.m., will include legislative updates from Reps. Brian Hill and Mark Tedford, and Sens. Julie Daniels and Ally Seifried. The Chamber’s vice president of government affairs, Adam Maxey, will discuss State Question 832, a proposal to raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2029.

Kyla Guyette, executive director of the Oklahoma Workforce Commission, will talk about aligning the workforce to meet the state ’s economic future, according to the email. Following Guyette’s remarks, the Chamber’s government affairs team will discuss legislation affecting employers.

A group photo is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., and participants will meet with lawmakers from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. in the House and Senate lobbies.
