CHICKASHA – The Chickasha City Council renewed contracts for engineering services and for workers’ compensation insurance, and renewed an agreement with Grady County Commissioner District 2 for assistance on “cooperative projects.”
• The Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group has provided the City of Chickasha with workers’ compensation insurance for more than 20 years, and will continue to do so in Fiscal Year 2025-26, which started July 1.
The city will pay almost $600,000 for the coverage, records show. An escrow balance of $356,148 will be used to reduce the premium payment, Mayor Zach Grayson said.
• The council renewed its agreement with professional engineer Randall Scott Vaughn and Chisholm Trail Consulting of Marlow for another 12 months.
The city “desires to complete certain capital improvement projects and other projects … including but not limited to” stormwater and drainage improvements, lake projects, street construction and repair, water treatment and distribution projects, and wastewater collection and treatment projects.
City officials recognize that “professional engineering and related services may be necessary to complete” those projects, the agreement states.
The city uses a handful of engineering firms, City Manager Jim Crosby said. Chisholm Trail Consulting is employed “mainly for public works and neighborhood services projects,” he said.
• The Chickasha City Council approved continuation of an interlocal agreement with Grady County District 2 Commissioner Ruth Bingham for Fiscal Year 2026. The agreement provides for “mutual cooperation pertaining to maintenance, construction, improvement and repair of certain projects” in the city and county.
“Several projects would have taken longer to complete if we didn’t have District 2 as a partner,” Grayson said.
