From staff reports FORT SILL – Fort Sill will host an Independence Day celebration at the historic Old Post Quadrangle for the enjoyment of Fort Sill soldiers, families, civilians and the community, officials said in a news release.
Fort Sill will welcome the public on post to join this event as the community commemorates the nation’s 249th birthday.
The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature live music performances, food trucks, games and activities for all ages, according to the news release. A highlight of the evening will be the Fort Sill Salute Battery’s performance of the “1812 Overture,” a musical piece traditionally associated with Independence Day that symbolizes the spirit of resilience and victory.
The battery will also render a salute to the union, honoring each state with ceremonial cannon fire.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a comfortable and festive evening. Patrons are also encouraged to preregister for visitor passes at least 24 hours in advance to ensure smooth entry onto the installation.
“We are excited to open our gates and welcome the community to Fort Sill for this Independence Day celebration,” said Col. Mike Barefield, chief of staff, Fires Center of Excellence. “It’s a meaningful opportunity to come together as neighbors, reflect on our freedoms and celebrate the values that unite us as Americans.”
