FORT SILL – Basic Combat Training (BCT) graduations will reopen to family members and guests next month, the Army post’s Public Affairs Office announced.
The first BCT graduation open to the public will be on May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fort Sill Polo Field. In cases of inclement weather, graduations will be held at the Cache Creek Chapel.
After each graduation ceremony, families are welcome to join their Soldiers for lunch in the immediate area on the Polo Field until 1 p.m.
BCT Family Days will be held a day prior to a scheduled graduation; the Family Day for the two batteries graduating May 21 occurs on May 20. Families will be allowed to pick up their Soldiers from their battalion’s designated location starting at 9 a.m. and can spend the day on or off the installation. Soldiers must return to their respective battalion areas before 8 p.m.
Post officials said they anticipate opening Advanced Individual Training (AIT) graduations to the public on June 1.
The health and safety of Fort Sill’s Soldiers and their families is deemed to be a priority. All personnel on the post must follow current Centers for Disease Control guidelines as well as federal executive orders at all times while on the installation. This includes wearing masks, physical distancing, and frequent hand-washing.
Graduations will continue to be live-streamed at https://livestream.com/ fires center. The live stream is recorded and families can upload and view the graduation on the Fort Sill graduation website at a later date or as it airs.
Family members are asked to monitor and stay tuned to their respective unit Facebook pages and official Fort Sill Facebook page for updates and further notifications on graduations and family days as information may change.
