The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum is in search of a Museum Curator to work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The museum curator will be responsible for developing exhibits, presentations, articles, and media pieces that share the collection and related history with the public, as well as developing museum programming for all ages. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule.
Job duties include leading creation of all exhibits including satellite and traveling exhibits; managing exhibit daily activities; caring for permanent, temporary or loaned exhibits; planning and facilitating museum-related
publications; developing partnerships with outside museums; assisting supervision of volunteers and interns.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in museum studies, military studies, history or related field preferred. Other qualifications include a knowledge of military history; understanding of museum and collection standards and best practices; proper handling of artifacts; knowledge exhibit development from concept to completion, and of museum collections database – Past Perfect strongly preferred.
The right candidate should possess excellent organizational, research, writing and editing skills with an attention to detail; an understanding of visitor-centered approaches to content, development and interpretation in physical exhibits and digital spaces; the ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects to successful completion and be able to adapt to changing priorities.
